How Fast are Starlink Speeds?

Starlink says download speeds should range between 20Mbps and 100Mbps, with a latency of 25ms to 50ms. That's potentially as fast as an NBN 100 plan, but with much higher latency and more room for congestion. Most fixed-line internet plans should be able to achieve latency of under 10ms. 20ms is roughly on par with a 4G mobile connection.

Starlink Business tier plans are advertised as capable of speeds of 220Mbps. Upload speeds are also faster, and can hit 25Mbps. Latency is still the same 25 to 50ms you'd get on a regular Starlink plan, however. 

According to a report published by Ookla, Starlink users in Australia experience average download speeds of 102.76Mbps across the second quarter of 2022. Upload speeds average 10.45Mbps, while users experienced an average latency of 49ms.

WHAT IS THE STARLINK PRICE IN AUSTRALIA?

Starlink plans will set you back $139 per month in Australia. You'll also need to pay $924 in hardware fees. Starlink is currently offering free shipping and handling but has previously cost $115. If you order before the end of 2022, you'll get free shipping and pay just $450 in hardware. 

There's also Starlink Business, a high-end service that costs $750 per month with a once-off hardware fee of $3,740 and $155 in shipping costs. This is a big jump up in price, but offers a more powerful antenna, and priority service allocation which delivers speeds of up to 220Mbps in Australia.
